Established in 1965, Highway Trust is an evangelical Christian charity committed to strengthening Christian witness through hospitality, encouragement, and practical mission.
A Heritage of Christian Hospitality
For six decades, the Trust has sought to provide places and opportunities where believers may find spiritual renewal, encouragement, and deeper commitment to Christ.
An enduring expression of this vision was the founding of Thornleigh Christian Hotel in Cumbria; a place shaped by Christian conviction and welcome.
Today, Thornleigh continues under its own trusteeship, offering themed breaks, church gatherings, and opportunities for reflection in a distinctly Christian setting.

In recent years, the Trustees have been prayerfully reflecting on how Highway Trust might build upon its heritage and respond wisely to present-day opportunities.
There is a growing recognition that younger Christians, in particular, face significant spiritual, cultural, and practical challenges as they seek to serve Christ faithfully. The Trust desires, as resources allow, to offer meaningful encouragement and support at such pivotal moments.

The Trustees are exploring the development of grant support for individuals and initiatives aligned with the Trust’s charitable objectives — particularly those engaged in Christian mission within the United Kingdom and overseas.
This would include assisting those:

- Serving in practical Christian action
- Seeking guidance and preparation for future ministry.
Any future grant-making will remain carefully governed and rooted in the Trust’s evangelical foundation.
